Toni Lato spoke to VCF Media after receiving his new vehicle from ŠKODA, Premium Plus Partner to Valencia CF. The fullback analysed the team's approach to this Saturday's LaLiga match against Atletico Madrid, and commented on the current morale within the squad.
"The coach is fair with us. He gives you the opportunity and we try to make the most of it, helping the team with whatever is required. We try to contribute more every day, to continue growing on both a personal and collective level," said Lato, who is grateful for the confidence shown in him upon his return from two loan spells at PSV Eindhoven and CA Osasuna.
"It's much easier when you have the trust of the coaching staff and the coach. As a team we are united. We are a young group with a good atmosphere amongst us. That makes things much easier and leads to better performance."
After going three games unbeaten, Valencia CF now face the side second in the table, meeting Atletico Madrid on Saturday afternoon.
"We're a very united team of young players. We have great commitment. We're going to give our all and try to take Valencia CF as high up as possible," says Lato.
"There are two teams who are in great form: Atletico Madrid are one of them. I think that it' going to be a very tough game, because they are in good shape and are strong physically. However, we have also gone unbeaten in our last three games and are in good form. We are going to go at them and try to get the three points.
"We know that it's going to be a very demanding game. They are a very tough side with clear ideas. I think that we need to match their intensity and pace, which will give us a chance."
A homegrown player, Lato is part of a youthful squad that has pulled together this season.
"We're a very young group and I think that we have a phenomenal atmosphere amongst us. We are all united and know what we have to do. There is commitment and we push hard every day in training. That's the path to follow in order to reach success. Whether you are younger or older, what you have to do is work hard together and try to make sure your effort is rewarded."
